well i believe the number one consequence of teens being on drugs and getting high is DEATH. That is certainly a problem if you plan on actually living past your second decade. Drug abuse kills plain and simple. Even if it doesn’t kill you right away, it kills your brain cells, your plans for a happy life, your relationship with other people, since drugs are your best friend, how do you think you are going to relate to real people?

Drug Abuse Resistance Education, better known as DARE, is an international education program that seeks to prevent use of controlled drugs, membership in gangs, and violent behavior. D.A.R.E., which has expanded globally since its founding in 1983, is a demand-side drug control strategy of the U.S. War on Drugs. Students who enter the program sign a pledge not to use drugs or join gangs and are taught by local law enforcement about the dangers of drug use in an interactive in-school curriculum which lasts ten weeks. D.A.R.E. America has its headquarters in Inglewood, California.

if you dont mind my views on teen addiction… here it is the raw truth from an addict.
support groups do not help. You need counseling, you need medicines to help with withdrawls you need in treatment care. it doesnt matter its a phycological thing and it needs to be closly examined. No matter if its meth or weed or even alcohol. and as soon as you find a treatment center they will hook you up with all those places and pay for everything.

Smokin During Attending IPSA.?

Question by James: Smokin during attending IPSA.?
My friend had got busted for a little bit of weed and has to go to this thing called IPSA (Intervention Program for substance abusers) and it costs $ 350 to complete that program, question 1 is If he doesnt have it to pay what can they do ? make him quit the program and do a lot of community service or somethin? Im trynna get him to keep clean thru the whole thing so he doesnt have to keep doin this over and over. I can get him to stay clean for a few days but wen he wants to smoke weed ( I too smoke) we end up doin it. But i havent been doin it around him at all but if he constantly keeps doing it can he go to jail over not keeping clean or will they make him go thru the program longer until he get 24 clean piss tests ? my friend needs 24 clean urine tests rate its gonna take him forever to get that clean. Im not sure if it matters but we are in Maryland (wasnt sure if IPSA was different from the ones in other states) let me know thanks

What’s the Connection Between Drug Use and HiV? Will Addiction Treatment Lessen the Spreading of HIV and AIDS?

Question by annaliese r: What’s the connection between drug use and HiV? Will addiction treatment lessen the spreading of HIV and AIDS?
I do know that they’re somehow interrelated. I was just curious as to how addiction treatment could possibly lessen the spreading of the aforementioned diseases.

Drug addiction treatment would be able to reduce the spread of AIDS/HIV because drugs users are more likely to get affected by such diseases. Treating drug addicts will definitely help. Studies have shown that those who inject drugs who do not let themselves get subjected to treatment are six times more liekly to get infected with HIV or AIDS, as opposed to those who let themselves get treated.

Diagreements on Teen Drug and Alcohol Abuse?

Question by Elena: diagreements on teen drug and alcohol abuse?
i wrote an essay for Social Studies….
For many years the topic of teenage drug and alcohol abuse has many different opinions which concern location, wealth, gender, age, and the actual number of kids that do it. Some parents with middle school teenagers think that drug and alcohol abuse begins in high school and there is no need to worry about that yet. Teens through the ages 12-14 were surveyed, the age most said they first started drugs was 14. Many kids start at 12, but the average age they start hard drugs is only 14.( www.crossroadsforwomen.org/blog/) Then with drinking 2.4% at age 12 to 4.5% at age 13, 8.9% at age 14, 16.9% at age 15, 22.4% at age 16, 30.1% at age 17, 42.4% at age 18, 51.2%.( http://www.centurycouncil.org/) There is then the assumption that only boys do drugs and drink. This assumption is false. Actually 12.2% of girls do drugs, and 9.4% of boys. From the ages 12-17, 1.5 million girls started drinking, but 1.28 million boys did (http://www.centerforyouth.org) , which means that that guess is totally false. “My kids don’t have any way to get drugs or alcohol.” Both of these things are actually very easy to get. Alcohol is now found in an everyday home, and most of the time not in a locked cabinet, making it very easy for teens to have access to the alcohol. Drugs are also relatively easy to get. People can pass them to each other during school, after school, at parties, or when they are just hanging out. My kids are smarter than that, it won’t happen to us. The truth is that it can happen to anyone. Kids take drugs for many reasons like to relieve stress, to fit in, to feel good, prevent boredom, escape, relax, feel grown up, experiment, be like their role model, and to rebel. Parent think that many of these problems have stopped because of D.A.R.E. This is also untrue. D.A.R.E. and many other drug and alcohol abuse awareness programs have been cuts, either because of the nationwide budget cuts or the community just found them unnecessary. Lastly people in Westfield and other wealthy towns may think that drugs only occur in less wealthy towns. This too is false. Many kids in Westfield do drugs because we have more money to buy drugs. Many people have many different opinions on this topic but in reality drugs and alcohol are there, if you like it or not.
I got i back because it was a group project and my teacher said that i didn’t answer the question right? i didn’t know what to do, she also said that it was a bit all over.. here is the question..
