There are many factors contributing to substance abuse. Genetic predisposition is one. If your parents were addicts, you are at higher risk.
Chemical imbalance in the brain can cause addiction. Problems with serotonin and other neurotransmitters can make a person have an addictive personality.
Peer pressure and trying to fit in with others is a contributing factor.
Ethnic background or religious beliefs in the way a person is raised.
Environment plays a role in addiction. Poverty is a common reason for some people to abuse substances.
Life experiences can cause a person to turn to substances. Someone who has had a lot of bad problems and can’t cope.
Social anxiety can cause a person to abuse substances so they are more comfortable around others.
There are probably more, but above are a few. Hope this helps
Legal Advice Please! Car Vandalized, House Was Robbed, and I Was Jumped by 5 Women.?
Question by : Legal Advice Please! Car Vandalized, House was robbed, and I was jumped by 5 women.?
Okay here goes. Here is the jest. My bestest of 5 years, after being left by her husband and father of her children, has lost her mind! She began abusing morphine sulfate, smoking whatever she could, and became emotionally unstable to the point of ramming her head into a brick wall INFRONT of her children. Now ofcourse this happend over a course of six months. I tried to help her with lightening the house hold stress, getting her into college to finish up, and watching her children. I was not aware of how bad she was getting until it was too late. She began pointing her fingers at me. Blaiming me for things I had absolutley nothing to do with. I became the bad person some how. Unfortunately, prior to the event of the brickwall and finding the drugs, I had helped her move into the apartment complex I was at so that I could help out as much as I could to keep her on the right track. When I saw her daughters reaction to the brick wall, I knew then, if she was not going to help herself, for the childrens sake…someone needed to step in. I contacted the childrens father and he started up with CPS. As time went on, I stayed to myself and walked away from the drama. CPS became heavily envolved and she almost lost her children. Thats when my car was vandalized. Tire slashing! Two in the morning, and came back for the back two that same evening. This was on the 17th. Called Marion County Police Department, and they did not even come out to look at the incident, they did an interview over the phone.?! On the 24th I came home to nothing in my home, everything taken and broken. Called the police and notified the apartments complex AGAIN. This time the police came out and found two fingerprints, and gave me my case number. Have not heard anything back still, and they do not return my calls. On the 29th I was jumped outside of my own doorstep by 5 women I had never seen before in my life. A neighbor called the police, I was given a case number on a piece of notebook paper and then they left. NOTHING! No one was asked questions, no one was arrested. Ofcourse the property management let me out of my lease and I am long gone as of last night. However, I am baffled that I could be targeted like this and have no protection offered or even taken seriously. How could I have been beaten by 5 women and fall through the cracks of Indianapolis? Any advice? Figured it was worth a shot.
